Time to reveal the secret, Tera is organizing a hunt, the Sweet Venom 2 Title hunt, to be exact. The big hunt starts TODAY!(August 30th)Tera is making us work for it lol Well duh she doesn't just I don't just give titles away. Even I'm anxious to uncover it.

Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster. Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though. Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they’re triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters. These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful Gorgon maligned in myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.

Book Review: Elemental Reality by Cesya MaRae Cuono (blog tour)

Elemental Reality (Elemental, #1)Elemental Reality by Cesya MaRae Cuono
series: Elemental #1
Release Date:August 21st 2011
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 251
Overall:
When Callie Pierce was ten, her mother disappeared without a trace. On the eve of her disappearance twelve years later, the earth seemingly comes alive. The elements speak to Callie, and that's only the beginning. Everything she has ever known was a twisted fabrication to protect her. Now the truth is set free. Callie and her sister are more powerful than any Faerie ever born. Now they have to use their powers to save their mother and family from the evil hands of fate that threaten to tear them apart. Welcome to her elemental reality.

My Thoughts:

Simply enchanting! Elemental Reality was so good and different, unlike any faerie book I’ve read.

I had know idea what was going to happen. In fact, i didn't even know this was a faerie book! lol Those are the most fun when your just letting the book take you away, letting itself unravel. What I really loved about this book was Cuono writing. It was so vivid, just describing the breeze. She definitely paints a picture. Same goes for her characters! They have so much personality,it’s breathe of fresh air, really.

Callie is a cool chick! It was interesting to see her come into her powers, learning about the Fae...(Mostly funny) I was a little confused with Cayden and Oli... Callie being the meat and both were trying to get her attention. I wanted to know what there motives were. In the end, I’m team Oli...loved him!

This debut is sizzin'. I enjoyed every minute of it(the fun & the steamy.)  Uh I can’t wait for book 2, Callie is one of my fave protags!

Book Review: Vanish (Firelight, #2) by Sophie Jordan

Vanish (Firelight, #2)Vanish by Sophie Jordan
series: Firelight #2
Release Date: September 6th 2011
Publisher: HaperTeen
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages:  304
Overall:
An Impossible Romance.
Bitter Rivalries.
Deadly Choices.
To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.
Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?
In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.
Book Trailer:

My Thoughts:

Jordan never stops surprising me! Vanish is absolutely stunning, a great follow up to Firelight!

Back into the world of Draki, Vanished is seriously an understatement when it comes to Jacinda’s life. Everything is just not going well for her. In Firelight we see her as a free spirited, (trying to past as) a normal teenager, In Vanish she’s kind of defeated, lost her brethren’s trust & respect. I admired Jacinda for her determination, strength and bravery.

But when I comes to the guys…she is just torn. It’s a recipe for someone getting hurt (someone always does.) I was Team Will but Caspian surprised me. He’s definitely not the guy I pictured him to be. My mom LOVES this series, with much great debate (Will vs. Caspian) She thinks Jacinda “wants her cake and eat it too” I think she’s confused. But she can’t have it all.

I have my predictions for the 3rd book in the Firelight series. They’re not good. I have a feeling that someone is either going to die or seriously get hurt. After that ending…Will, Tamra, Jacinda, and Caspian marching into the “hell mouth” itself, is not a good feeling. It can either be a complete WIN or turn into a complete and total disaster.

I’m so invested into her characters and plot. Jordan’s writing is so vivid and capturing, I wonder what she has coming for us next. I can’t wait for the 3rd book! Team Caspian! lol

Book Review: Anathema by K.A. Tucker

Anathema (The Causal Enchantment Series, #1) Anathema by K.A. Tucker
Series:Causal Enchantment #1
Release Date:  June 1st 2011
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 284
Overall:
Evangeline has spent her teenage years in obscurity. Her foster parents have the emotional aptitude of robots and her classmates barely acknowledge her existence. About to turn eighteen and feeling like a social pariah, she is desperate to connect with someone. Anyone. When Evangeline meets Sofie after literally stumbling upon her café, she believes she’s found that connection. Willing to do anything to keep it, she accepts a job as Sofie’s assistant and drops everything to fly to Manhattan, where she is thrust into a luxurious world of Prada, diamonds, and limitless cash. With such generosity and kindness, it’s easy for Evangeline to dismiss certain oddities . . . like Sofie’s erratic and sometimes violent behavior, and the monstrous guard dogs. She’s even willing to dismiss her vivid dreams of mob-style murders, beautiful homeless people living in caves, and white-eyed demons that haunt her each night as figments of her imagination—especially when one of those figments is the gorgeous Caden. When she wakes up with bite marks on her neck, the fairy tale quickly turns into a nightmare. She slowly unravels the mystery surrounding Sofie and friends, and the reality of the bites and the “dreams.” What she discovers is far more mysterious and terrible than anything she could have imagined. In a world where everyone has motive to lie for personal gain, Evangeline must decide which deception is least likely to get her killed.
Book Trailer:

My Thoughts:

I think I just got my first taste of paranormal, dystopian, urban fanstasy, action, mystery, suspense fused all in one epic book!

I’ve always wondered what would happen if vampires couldn’t control their hunger...and Tucker created just that. Anathema is VERY original. I haven’t read anything like it. There was a lot of dystopian elements and fuse that in with paranormal, vampires, and  sorcerers...I know awesome is kind of an over exaggerated word but it really was awesome!

Tucker doesn't stray far away from how vampires are...they’re beautiful and deceiving...Talk about creating characters you love to hate but can’t seem to hate lol ahem Viggo and Mortimer. I didn’t know if  I could trust Sophie either at the beginning but she was genuinely in a “prickle” and really cared about Evangeline’s well being. Even Sophie told Evangeline she was too trusting, I have to agree. That’s what makes her human, she’s vulnerable and naive. Evangeline did prove herself, I mean she has some serious back bone. Not that I’m saying she can take on two lovesick strong vampires, but in the end I didn’t expect the whole twist of events to happen the way they did.

As for Caden, Amelie, Fiona, Bishop and Max i LOVED them. They all had their own personalities, they just shined. Caden is so HOT lol I wonder if Tucker will write a story from Caden’s POV. He is such an interesting character...I want to know him, his story. From being human to turning into a vamp.

I’m so so anxious to read book 2! A Definite MUST READ!! Anathema is one of my new faves of 2011.

Book Review: The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

The Goddess Test (Goddess Test #1)The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
Series: Goddess Test #1
Release Date: April 19th 2011
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 293
Overall: ½
It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

My Thoughts:

What a story!

I see so much potential in this story and characters.I know it will only get better. I have a lot good things to say about The Goddess Test  and some bad. Carter wrote a good debut that I enjoyed.

The way Carter recreated mythology with astounding. The world building--loved. That’s what kept me reading. When I first met Kate, I didn’t know what my feelings were towards her. But I did feel symphony for her and only wanted her to be happy in the end. I didn’t really establish a connection with the any of characters other than Kate. I think I’m still waiting for her happiness. I just don’t quite believe that Kate is happy yet, after everything she’s been though. As for Henry, He has this really good protective wall up, I just want to get into his head to see what his thinking. I know he most be grieving in some way after...well all those girls and maybe Persephone. I hope he can open to Kate in time.

My feelings toward the other characters started as Kate started to build her relationships with them. I was trying to figure them out but then something bad would happen, either they caused it or they were involved in some way. It made it kind of hard for me to trust any of the characters...Once the BIG secret at the end was revealed towards the end I was like “OOoooH!” but then I was like “hmm?” So I was basically left with some questions answered and more questions added.

Overall The Goddess Test was a good story, well developed. It’s just the characters that I’m still trying to figure and get to know better. Don’t get me wrong I liked them, the end definitely changed some of my opinions about them, so that’s why I feel like it can only get better.I'm so looking forward to

Interview with Alexandra Chando from ABC Family’s “The Lying Game!"

Hope you guys are as stoked as I am about THE LYING GAME! And will be tuning in and watching it tonight on ABC family!! Alexandra Chando plays the main role of two characters, Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer. With the premiere of ABC Family’s “The Lying Game”, Alexandra Chando recently took part in a media Q&A.(noted this is not the full transcript Q&A)

"The Lying Game," a new one-hour scripted drama, follows Emma, a kind-hearted foster kid who learns she has an identical twin sister, Sutton. Sutton, unlike Emma, was adopted by wealthy parents and is seemingly living an ideal life. After their initial meeting, Sutton talks Emma into stepping into her life for a few days while she pursues a lead on the mysterious identity of their birth mother.

After Sutton inexplicably fails to return to the girls' designated meeting place, Emma must decide whether to come clean about her identity and risk her own safety in the hope of uncovering her twin sister's whereabouts, along with the truth about why they were separated in the first place."
.

Moderator  What can you tell potential fans and fans of Pretty Little Liars why they should be tuning in to watch this new series?

A. Chando    Okay.  Great.  Well, I think one of the main things for Pretty Little Liars fans to know is that our series is also based on the novel by Sara Shepherd, who wrote the series Pretty Little Liars, so that is definitely a start.  Our show it really is a mystery.  It’s a little bit dark.  There is definitely a lot of mystery to it, but at the same time, it has a lot of heart.  It touches on romance and love triangles and relationships between parents and their teenagers.  There are definitely a lot of secrets.  I think a lot of the Pretty Little Liars fans will be able to get into our show, as well, because we kind of have a very similar tone, if you will.

Moderator    Can you talk about playing dual roles and the challenges that come with that?

A. Chando   Of course.  It’s first a blessing, first of all, to just have the opportunity to play two roles.  To be able to develop two characters and kind of find different things about them and explore them each and every day has been incredible.  It does come with its challenges, though.  I have 15-hour work days and I’m working an awful lot compared to what I would be working if I was just playing one character.

It’s a challenge in the sense, besides the hours and the exhaustion, just trying to keep them straight sometimes.  We’re about to embark on Episode 6.  Today, we start it.  it’s gotten a little bit easier to really feel like these characters and understand them, but there are moments where a little bit of Sutton will creep into Emma and vice versa.  It’s definitely been a challenge and I’d say, as well, having to act with a green screen or an eye line with an X on the wall has become easier, but it was definitely in a challenge in the beginning.

Moderator   What first attracted you to this role?

A. Chando  Well, aside from the fact that I would have the opportunity to play two characters, which I’ve always fantasized about doing, the pilot was just so well written and the characters so relatable and not only my characters, every character in the show, I think, has an element of relatability for an audience member.  That was really incredible.  Just the fact that it was an ABC Family show and ABC Family puts out really great projects, as well as Alloy, and the connection was Pretty Little Liars.  Everything just kind of lined up, but specifically, the characters were just really solid characters and I just thought it would be such an interesting thing to be able to develop these two girls and see where they lead.

Moderator   How are you like either of the two characters?

A. Chando  I can relate to both of the characters.  Obviously, with Emma, I consider myself a kind person, thoughtful, and I try not to take things for granted.  I mean I grew up in a wonderful family, a wonderful household, which is great, but with Sutton, I think, I relate to the way she handles things emotionally.  She’s less emotional.  She’s kind of compartmentalizes things and I kind of find myself doing that often, especially in this industry and where life has kind of taken me.  There is a little bit of both of me in each.

Moderator    Did you read the novels beforehand?

A. Chando     Actually, when we shot the pilot, which was in December, the first novel wasn’t out yet, so we didn’t get to read it until after the pilot was done being shot.  But I did read the first one.  I haven’t had a chance to read the second one yet, but I did read the first one and it was so helpful.  It really helped paint the picture of who Emma was and where she came from and her upbringing and what she has kind of dealt with in the past.

Moderator    Do you think it differs a lot, like the show versus the novel and how they play what is called the lying game in the novel?

A. Chando     The show does differ from the book.  It’s a mystery and in order to keep fans intrigued and keep a television series going, we need to maintain that element of mystery.  If we were to just follow the book directly then there would be no mystery involved.  We did depart a little bit from the book, but it’s based on the characters and the lying games are mentioned.

Book Review: Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1)Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep
Series: Mythos Academy #1
Release Date:July 26th 2011
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 350
Overall:

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died...

My Thoughts:

Um hell to the freakin yes!

Touch of Frost is definitely one of my favorite YA urban fantasy books out there.
Gwen is a very dynamic character. She’s an outcast, she feels like she isn’t as strong as her classmates(who are literally Spartans, Amazons, Vikings, Valkyries etc) and NOW...lets just say I’ll be expecting great things from her. Once she brushes off her swordsmen skills, of course. Gwen had it in her the hold time, she’s a hero for sure.

As for her friends...I didn’t trust Daphna at first. But the once snotty, follower, Valkyrie grew on to me. She shown true friendship for sticking by Gwen's side. So I feel like Daphna has truly redeemed herself. She ditched those backstabbing wannabes and finally when for the guy, the adorable  “band geek” Carson .and LOGAN...totally HOT and gosh, he can be annoying in a sexy bad boy way. Jennifer knows how to keep the tension going and they haven’t even kissed yet! lol *fingers crossed* for things to pick up between Logan and Gwen.

I really enjoyed the plot and the world building,I don’t know if I’m over thinking this but I’m still looking for the bigger picture in all this. Champions vs. Reapers. What if The mythical(and evil) god Loki gets loose...would everything end in world destruction...? Hopefully I’ll learn more in the next book.

Touch of Frost is dangerous and exciting. This one of those books you can’t put down.
I can’t wait to read more about Gwen, learn more about Mythos, and see some serious reaper ass kicking in Kiss of Frost!

"Breaking" an original Survivors Song!

Hey Readers! You guys remember a really good book I read called The Survivors

Well....
This is another awesome way to make our books come to live. This song is the first of our Sadie songs...where you get to hear Sadie as a song narrator, the way you hear her as narrator in the book.

"Breaking" is the second single from The Survivors Series, performed by Jess Moskaluke and written by Amanda Havard and Deanna Walker. It's a beautiful song. You can find the lyrics on Amanda's blog: http://bit.ly/pNKkIC

The first single, though it could tilt different ways, was primarily from Everett. Listen "Pretty Girl," performed by Glee's Chris Mann: http://bit.ly/lCgd6e

More about The Survivors :

Interview with Melanie Card (author of Ward Against Death)

Ward Against Death (Chronicles of a Reluctant Necromancer, # 1)

Ward Against Death
August 2, 2011

Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job—bring a nobleman’s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can’t be a surgeon—the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying—so bringing people back from the dead it is.But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she’s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her. However, nothing is as it seems—including Celia. One second, she’s treating Ward like sewage, the next she’s kissing him. And for a nobleman’s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive…

Hi Melanie! I love the cover! I think it really captures the essence of your book completely... what was your first reaction when you saw it?

Thanks so much for inviting me to share with your readers today! I thought the cover was fantastic! I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and how well it captured the dark, moody, yet still romantic, feel of the story.

What were you like as a teen?
Melanie Card
Oh man, I was a pretty awkward teen. I had braces and glasses and acne, and my hair is curly and at the time I had no idea how to manage the frizz (there are some pretty embarrassing yearbook pictures of me out there). And I was a bookworm. I loved reading. When I went to class two things were always setup on the corner of my desk: my pencil case and whatever novel I was reading. It wasn’t until I’d graduated high school that I figured myself—and my hair—out.

Did it have any influence over how you wrote the characters in Ward Against Death?

I think my teenage years greatly influenced how I wrote Ward and Celia. Ward is an extension of who I am and how I felt at the time. He wants to be respected but doesn’t realize yet that external respect won’t make him happy. And Celia is the girl I wished I could have been (at least in part). No I didn’t wanted to kill people and break the law, but she’s so confident and self-assured. It doesn’t matter what people think of her, she knows who she is and what she’s all about (at least until she meets Ward and realizes perhaps she doesn’t have to be so cutthroat to get along in the world).

What are your thoughts on Necromancy? Do you think Ward handles his “job” as a Necromancer well?

I think necromancy has the potential to be a slippery slope. There are people I’d love to bring back from the dead, even just for a few minutes to tell them how much I loved them, but I think it would take someone with a very strong will not to abuse that kind of power. I think for Ward, given his situation, he handles his “job” well. It’s not everyday the person you’ve woken up from the dead climbs out a window and escapes. And it certainly isn’t everyday that that person says she was murdered and begs you to help her figure out who killed her. I’m sure everything would have worked out fine for Ward if Celia was just some nobleman’s daughter. Unfortunately for him, she’s so much more than that.

When you were writing Ward Against Death did you write for an intended audience?

I didn’t have a specific audience in mind. I just wanted to write a fun story with adventure and romance and interesting characters.

Readers (especially female ones, including me) often swoon over and fall in love with the hero/love interest in YA novels. What makes Ward different from other YA heroes/love interests out there? What makes him so swoon-worthy?

I think what makes Ward different from other heroes is that he’s shy and a bit of an underdog. He hasn’t realized yet that he is swoon-worthy and the romance takes him by surprise. But what attracts Celia to him is that he’s a great guy. Keeping his word is so important to him and when things get tough, Ward has her back. Ward also isn’t a romantic player so when he commits to someone we know it isn’t on a whim, it’s because he has strong feels for that person and would be willing to lay down his life for her. What makes him different from other heroes in this regard is his non-traditional skill set. He’s not a fighter, he’s a scholar, so when he fights for you he’s doing so at terrible risk to himself. But he believes so strongly in doing what’s right and defending those he cares about, and I think that’s what makes him strong… and swoon-worthy.

I was reading the synopsis of your book, and I was fascinated by the contrast of the dark, foreboding sense of the blood and the magic and the light, romantic feel of Ward and Celia's relationship. It sounds like these two are fated to be together. I was just wondering how you put two so opposite moods into the same book and still make it work. How do you connect them and make them compliment one another?

I like a gothic dark feel to my fantasy stories that I think allows me to go in directions I otherwise wouldn’t be able to go (like bringing people back from the dead). However, I’m also a romantic by nature. And a knight-in-shinning-armor kind of romantic, where knights do great deeds in honor of the woman they love. And I think Ward and Celia help with both of these flavors. Their situation is pretty dire. Let’s face it, she’s already dead and people are after her and Ward. But they have this chemistry with each other, an attraction that neither want to admit is there but that they can’t deny. They are also opposites who need each other in order to become better people. What I think makes them connect is the realization that they see their own weaknesses and strengths in each other and realize that together they are stronger, better people.

What are your current projects?

The second book in the Chronicles of a Reluctant Necromancer series. The adventures of Ward and Celia continue with more undead creatures and evil necromancers.
