Book Review: Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen(blog tour)

Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
Release Date:October  2010
Publisher: HarperTeen
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages:    389
Series: Bright Young Things #1

Overall:
The year is 1929. New York is ruled by the Bright Young Things: flappers and socialites seeking thrills and chasing dreams in the anything-goes era of the Roaring Twenties.

Letty Larkspur and Cordelia Grey escaped their small Midwestern town for New York's glittering metropolis. All Letty wants is to see her name in lights, but she quickly discovers Manhattan is filled with pretty girls who will do anything to be a star…

Cordelia is searching for the father she's never known, a man as infamous for his wild parties as he is for his shadowy schemes. Overnight, she enters a world more thrilling and glamorous than she ever could have imagined—and more dangerous. It's a life anyone would kill for . . . and someone will.

The only person Cordelia can trust is Astrid Donal, a flapper who seems to have it all: money, looks, and the love of Cordelia's brother, Charlie. But Astrid's perfect veneer hides a score of family secrets.

Across the vast lawns of Long Island, in the illicit speakeasies of Manhattan, and on the blindingly lit stages of Broadway, the three girls' fortunes will rise and fall—together and apart. From the New York Times bestselling author of The Luxe comes an epic new series set in the dizzying last summer of the Jazz Age.

Book Review: The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
Release Date:  March 16th 2010
Publisher: HarperTeen
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 336
Series:The Body Finder #1
Editions: Nook |Kindle| Audio Book
Overall:
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.
Book Trailer:

My Thoughts:

The Body Finder is... SIMPLY. A.FANTASTIC. READ.I don’t know why I’ve put off reading this book for so long, it was amazing. Reading Desires of the Dead is a MUST!

Derting creates a unique story that is very much needed in YA. She is so Alex Cross.I mean how many YA novels out there have a heroine who can sense the dead, a serial killer... And the best friend gets chosen! I don’t know about you guys but sometimes a tangled love triangle gets on my nerves(just a little bit)

And Violets a fabulous heroine at that. She a pretty strong character seeing that she found a dead body at very young age...normally wouldn't that really mess up a kid emotionally?... But she held her composer really well. I think it’s because she has a really loving and protective family. Her family is pretty understanding when it comes to her gift, they never question her about it. That’s what I really admired.

Lets not forget about the her Best Friend Jay...who is totally swoon worthy and definitely mine, i mean Violet’s(<==so jealous of you).  Jay is charming and just THE perfect guy, he definitely knows how to make a girls heart melt and smiles that last for days*sighs*

Derting wraps this lovely book up in a bow and sends you on a romantic and intriguing thrill ride. If the romance doesn’t get you chills then the suspense will!

Character Interview: Phe (Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus ) + Giveaway

by Anastasia Hopcus
After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.

Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.
