As if that’s not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, avoid the politics involved with being the only daughter born to an ancient vampire dynasty, and elude Kieran Black—agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father’s killer and is intent on staking Solange and her entire family.
Luckily she has her own secret weapon—her human best friend Lucy—who is willing to defend Solange’s right to a normal life, whether she’s being smothered by her well-intentioned brothers or abducted by a power-hungry queen. Two unlikely alliances are formed in a race to save Solange’s eternal life—Lucy and Solange’s brother Nicholas, and Solange and Kieran Black—in a dual romance that is guaranteed to jump start any romance-lover’s heart.Even fans of the genre who’ve seen it all will find a fresh read with kick-butt characters and family dynamics that ring true for all brothers and sisters—vampire or otherwise

Review:

Hearts at Stake is exciting, witty, and full of romance.

Ever since i heard about this book i was like I HAVE TO READ IT! the action in the book is what keep me turning the pages. There was alot of twists and creepy blue vamps in it, that made it original.

There are so many exciting characters in this book sometimes it was hard to keep up with them. That's the only problem i had with it but other than that everything was awesome.
7 brothers?!? how can Sloange live, i mean 1 is enough! lol Anyways,The characters are all strong, they all have a great personality. My favorite characters are Solange.Nicholas, Lucy, Logan, and Kiernan. You get to know them really while.I love Nicholas( i think i have a crush*blushing*)

Harvey's writing is filled with humor, definitely going to be one of my new favorite author, with unexpected ending of this book, I can’t wait to read Blood Feud - The synopsis says it will be Logan’s story,I can’t wait to read it.YAY!

Looking for a new beginning after a terrible mean girl past, Charlie Healey realizes there’s no escaping high school drama

Charlie Healey thinks Harmony Falls is the beginning of a whole new life. Middle school was brutal. But high school is Charlie’s big chance to start over and stay out of drama, except that on her first day she runs into Will, her ex–best friend, who had moved away. Now a varsity athlete and hotter than Charlie
remembered, Will hangs with the crowd running the school. But Charlie doesn’t understand their power until an innocent delivery guy falls victim to a near-deadly hazing prank.

Torn between doing what’s right and her secret feelings for Will, Charlie must decide whether to turn in her very best friend or live with the guilt of knowing what he did.

Rosalind Wiseman’s first novel for young adults is a fresh, funny, and juicy read about friendship, betrayal, and how far some will go to be accepted.

Review:

Boys Girls and Other Hazardous Materials is funny, insightful and addicting! I devoured it in one sitting. Rosalind focuses on one of the main problems in high school....hazing and makes the awesome debut Boys Girls and Other Hazardous Materials.

When i started reading BGAOHM i was instantly looking back at my high school years(this year being my last year in HS) especially my freshmen year. The Characters are real and honest. I can definitely relate to Charlie, she has a great personally and strong voice. Freshmen year for me was....terrifying. The year after that was...interesting. I too, like Charlie run into a best guy friend. He happen to be older and cute lol(now what are the odds of that). You see! Rosalind knows her teens and after you've gotten to know the characters in this book they will feel like their either your BFF's or worse(mean BOYS?!?) enemies.

I enjoyed this book and thought that the characters were great, the story just had depth.Wiseman is awesome, i look forward to more of her books in the future.I think teens will definitely like this book.Once you read it you going to fall in love with it!

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

Review:

Fallen is dark, edgy and captivating.

I enjoy this book, the characters were great and original. I really liked the love triangle in this book(why do i fall for the ones that never get chosen? lol) But the story is told they way Luce see's it, at times i was like "what is Daniel thinking/doing?" especially towards the end. I was drawn more to Cam than Daniel(he was awesome too) Cam is tall, dark and hot with a sexy personality and green eyes. While Daniel is mysterious, gorgeous with a charming personality and gray violet eyes.I love me some pretty eyes. lol. I can't choose between the two.Adriane is a friend of Luce, she has a strong personality and just an interesting character. Well all the characters were interesting and exciting in this book, I enjoyed getting to know them all.

Towards the end all i can say is that it was EPIC! i hope to see more of Daniel's point of view in the next book Torment(can't wait!) I have my questions but thank God there is going to be a second book to an exciting series.

Book Review: Immortal

Immortal by P. C. Cast: Book CoverTitle: Immortal: Love stories with bite

In Immortal: Love Stories With Bite, edited by New York Times bestselling author of the House of Night series P.C. Cast, 8 of today's most popular YA vampire and contemporary fantasy authors offer new short stories that prove that when you're immortal, true love really is forever.

Rachel Caine (the Morganville Vampires series) revisits the setting of her popular series, where the vampires are in charge and love is risky

Cynthia Leitich Smith (Tantalize) gives us a love triangle between a vampire, a ghost and a human girl, in which none of them are who or what they seem

Claudia Gray (Evernight) takes us into the world of her Evernight series, in which a pre-Civil War courtesan-to-be is courted by a pale, fair-haired man whose attentions are too dangerous to spurn

Richelle Mead (the Vampire Academy series) brings us the tale of a young vampire on the run from the rest of her kind, and the human boy who provides the getaway car

Nancy Holder (the Wicked series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
immerses us in a post-apocalyptic New York where two best friends are forced to make a choice that may kill them both

Kristin Cast (the House of Night series) introduces us to a new kind of vampire: one with roots in Greek mythology, and the power to alter space and time

And Tanith Lee (Black Unicorn) shows us what happens when a bright young woman with some supernatural savvy encounters a misguided (but gorgeous) young vampire

Rachel Vincent(Shifters series and Soul Screamers series) explores a new corner of her Soul Screamers universe with the story of a leenan sidhe capable of inspiring the musicians she loves to new creative heights-or draining him, and his talent, dry

REVIEW:

So I'm going to break the stories down because i really don't know any other way to rate this book.(I've written some notes on it somewhere....hmm)i'm not a dork, i had to write it down or i would have forgotten the stories lol,Overall the book is pretty good, i mean look at the authors who are in it.It one big book of AWESOME! Which one was my favorite? well i have several: Richelle Mead, Nancy Holder,Claudia Gray, and Rachel Vincent. Why?....well lets start with the 1st story.

"Haunted Love" Cynthia Leitch Smith
In this story then a love triangle(enjoyed). It was thrilling, well written and a perfect vampire story(with ghost involved)When i say thrill i mean thrilling! There was action, and some buffy scenes going on. Awesome characters too!Oh, Twists! there was so many twists and I didn't even see them coming, Now how can you pack that all together in a like 20 some pages?!? Genius, i say! lol

Rating 4/5 hearts:

"Amber Smoke" Kristin Cast
I like this story, and the promise it had (seeing that i LOVE the house of night series!), but it felt kind of rushed and it would have been even better if it had more pages.
The characters developed their role really quickly. it was like "OK, likes go".The pacing was kind of off and I think if this was made into a full novel it would have been more smooth.
Rating 3.5/5 hearts:
♥.5

"Dead Man Stalking" Rachel Caine
This ties in with her Morganville Vampires series. This isn't a story of romantic-love, but of family-love. I haven't read the Morganville series, but i don't think you'd need to read them but it would help.I enjoyed this story, well put together, it was dark, entertain, and of course KICK A$$!yep the pretty much somes it up. I need to read the Morganville series, i had the 1st two!

Rating 4/5 hearts:

"Table Manners" Tanith Lee
I wanted to like this story, because it had a different look on vampires, the writing was very unique. It had like a gothic feel to it, with some of the sentences awkwardly phrased and it got kind of confusing. The promise was great! I liked how Lee looked at vampirism as what we have made it to be(you know like, the stake through the heart or no sunlight for vamps), It's not a disease or curse. Definitely a unique story.

Rating 3/5 hearts:

"Blue Moon" Richelle Mead
LOVED IT! Her story was interesting, entertaining and addicting. It made you wanted to read more about the characters and their story when it was over*sad it's was over*. It was set in a completely different world than her vampire academy books with brand new characters and a brand new mythology. Awesome! (Love the VA series)
Rating 5/5 hearts:

"Changed" Nancy Holder
Holder's story was original. Very interesting and dramatic. These vampires in the story are your cruel and inhuman creatures parading around looking for the kill. I felt bad for Jilly, for everything she went through all because of a doomed (romantic) love. Her development throughout the story was great, given how short the short was, but it flowed easily. Jilly went from being sad/depressed to finding her friend Eli(also her ex- who happens to be gay) she loved him so much,he could never return those same feeling. Soon she realized that it didn't matter what form of love they shared, it was love and that's what mattered.

Rating 5/5 hearts:

"Binge" Rachel Vincent
This is set in her Soul Screamers universe. It's painfully beautiful and dark. The characters are a siren and a leanan sidhe, it's about their powers they have and what destruction it can cause for one moment of happiness. This was a painful story as Mallory, who always made sure Andi didn't go too far with her siren songs, learned that sometimes its hard to know when to stop even when you know better. You could feel how painful it all was for Mallory and how badly Andi wanted to save her from herself. In the end they both learned a powerful lesson, and the cost.
Rating 5/5 hearts:

"Free" Claudia Gray
This is set in her Evernight universe (featuring Patrice, Bianca's roommate from the novels). Over a century later we see what this one choice, how powerfully Patrice wanted to be truly free, becomes. Beauty is her armor, her way to survive and charm. I enjoyed learning this about her and what makes her who she is today. This story was definitely entertaining and  interesting.

Book Review: The Better part Of Darkness

The Better Part of Darkness by Kelly Gay: Book CoverTitle: The Better part Of Darkness

Divorced mother of one, Charlie Madigan, lives in a world where the beings of heaven and hell exist among us, and they aren't the things of Sunday school lessons and Hallmark figurines. In the years since the Revelation, they've become our co-workers, neighbors, and fellow citizens.

Charlie works for ITF (Integration Task Force). It's her job to see that the continued integration of our new "friends" goes smoothly and everyone obeys the law, but when a new off-world drug is released in Underground Atlanta, her daughter is targeted, and her ex-husband makes a fateful bargain to win her back, there's nothing in heaven or earth (or hell for that matter) that Charlie won't do to set things right.

The Better part of Darkness is fast paced, exciting and addicting!

It can't wait for the second book in the series.....The Characters are kick butt, Tough, and AWESOME! Charlie and Hank are my favorites. Charlie has her faults but she has her friends and family to help her along the way.I enjoy Byrn and the relationship between her and Aaron, I think it could even branch out to another series if the author wanted to.I am looking forward to where this author will take this character.

Loved the plot, it was original and had that(i can't thing of a good word to describe how awesome it was) I was sucked into Kay's world, she definitely had her own voice.which held my attention. I enjoyed Kelly Gay's writing style. The story wasn't overwhelming and it didn't have everything going everywhere, It had some new and fresh spins on mythology/other worlders. This is definitely an interesting book. The only thing missing, was romance, and I know this is Urban Fantasy, but I still wanted some sort of hope for a romance of some kind lol.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Better Part of Darkness and I can’t wait until Kelly Gay’s second novel, The Darkest Edge of Dawn, hits the shelves.  I’m hoping it’s going to be soon because I really want to know what happens between Charlie and Will (the ex) with his new friend, her partnership with Hank and what she’s getting involved in with her new job.  It’s not what she was looking for, but I think she’s going to enjoy it anyway.

Book Review: Betrayed(House of Night Series #2)

Title: Betrayed
Author(s) P.C. & Kristin Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Pub. Date: October 2007
ISBN-13: 9780312360283
Age Range: Young Adult
320pp
Series: House of Night Series, #2

Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend--or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

Zoey redbird is now the leader of the dark daughters, her life is getting more and more complicating. It was a really good book, a great sequel to the House of Night series. It satisfied my "thirst." lol

Yeah, Zoey is just getting more annoying in this book. Maybe i just don't like her..IDK, but i like all the other characters and I loved the story line.Betrayed wasn't my favorite in the series so far.Untamed definitely is but that's a later review.

So betrayed is good. The ending kind of mad me mad because whats up with my favorite characters dying? WHY!! is that a spoiler...IDK. Yet again another freaking cliff hanger... It's a good thing i all ready read Chosen.

You are more than you think you are.

THAT IS THE ANONYMOUS MESSAGE that Beth Michaels receives right before she starts seeing things. Not just a slept-through my-alarm-clock, late-for-homeroom, haven't had-my-caffeine-fix kind of seeing things. It all starts with some dots, annoying pink dots that pop up on and over her mom and her best friend's face. But then things get out of control and Beth is seeing people's pasts, their fears, their secrets, their desires. The images are coming at Beth in hi-def streaming video and she can't stop it. Everyone thinks she's crazy and she's pretty sure she agrees with them. But crazy doesn't explain the gold envelopes that have started arriving, containing seeing keys and mysterious tarot cards. To Beth, it all seems too weird to be true. You are more than you think you are? But here's the thing: What if she is?

The creator of Bring it On, Jessica Bendiner, brings her teen savvy writing to this paranormal romance, The Seven Rays.

The Seven Rays is Original, unique, and put's a great twist in a simple message about growing up and finding yourself.

I couldn't put this book down. All i know is that I WANT A SEQUEL!! please... lol. the Story was very interesting and weird(in a good way), I liked Jessica's style of writing, great sense of fantasy, mystery and of course L-O-V-E.

There wasn't a lot of romance in The Seven Rays but the connection between Beth and Richie is pretty cute, well developed, and well I loved them together. Beth is a really strong heroine and you can't hope but like her dorky-ness. She always the one looking for answers.Beth is part of a something special, she's not the only one with gifts. I find the other characters well..... unique and different. As for Richie, he's described as THE HOTTEST GUY around, i found him to be the all American type guy. He's cute and definitely LOVESTRUCK. He was there for Beth when she thought she was crazy, the shoulder to cry on and leave you snots on lol. aww

I don't want to spoil it, i really really liked the book. It's probably the best journey I've been taken on in a while. I can't get over how different it was compare to all the books I've read. Awesome characters and a great plot what more can you ask for?

In Crank, Ellen Hopkins chronicles the turbulent and often disturbing relationship between Kristina, a character based on her own daughter, and the "monster," the highly addictive drug crystal meth, or "crank." Kristina is introduced to the drug while visiting her largely absent and ne'er-do-well father. While under the influence of the monster, Kristina discovers her sexy alter-ego, Bree: "there is no perfect daughter, / no gifted high school junior, / no Kristina Georgia Snow. / There is only Bree." Bree will do all the things good girl Kristina won't, including attracting the attention of dangerous boys who can provide her with a steady flow of crank.

Soon, her grades plummet, her relationships with family and friends deteriorate, and she needs more and more of the monster just to get through the day. Kristina hits her lowest point when she is raped by one of her drug dealers and becomes pregnant as a result. Her decision to keep the baby slows her drug use, but doesn't stop it, and the author leaves the reader with the distinct impression that Kristina/Bree may never be free from her addiction.

I read this book a little while back. I don't know why i was drawn to this book. This was the first book that i've read that involved drug abuse that i picked up. I can see why people are fans of Ellen. So anyways someone recommended i read this book so i gave it a try. As i was reading, i was drawn to the way it was written and Kristina's struggle with the "monster".

Kristina/Bree life is just spiraling out of control. She got so lost,it just kept on kristina's struggle,She is the real "Alice in wonderland" she fall down that hole. There was never any spark of "something goods gonna happen". I was hoping for something good to happen until the end, but i don't know if having a baby can stop Kristina/Bree's drug addiction. It was so intense, it made me think....

I really like the way Ellen writes her books. It was beautifully written in verse. It just flowed and made the story come to life. I'll definitely continue Ellen Hopkins books.
