My Clocky is here!!!

CSN OFFICE FURNITURE

Happy Halloween!!!

O.k. so i had mentioned a while back that Jason from CSNOfficeFurniture offered me a chance to review a bookcase, but i didn't have any room for one. So i was like why not an alarm clock? It arrived at my grandma's house, i had to go get it. Now i'm finally reviewing it.It was in a little cute box. I was so excited when i got the offer. Now i don't have to hear the BIG BEAR yelling at me to get up. So when i opened the little box, I saw the cute clock, it changes colors too in the dark! it's really cool. It was easy to set. I use it everyday, well not on the weekends(yes) I'm just not a morning person. Plus the clock doesn't take up a lot of space.

You See it! isn't it cute?! It also tells the date, day, and year! So Overall, it's an awesome clock, very modern and youthful. I rate it a 5 out of 5 Thanks again CSN Office Furniture for giving me the chance to review it for you! If any bloggers or readers are interested in buying bookcases or any other type of office furniture make sure you visit the link below! I mean they have ALOT of stuff from clock to fireplaces! We'll definitely be buying more products from CSN :D

Book Review: Marked (House of Night, Book 1)

Title:Marked (House Of Night, Book 1)
Author:P.C. and Kristin Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
ISBN: 9780312360269
Publication Date:
Ages: Young Adult
Pages:320

synopsis

The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampires have always existed. In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire - that is, if she makes it through the Change. Not all of those who are chosen do. It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampire Goddess, Nyx. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny - with a little help from her new vampire friends.

review:

I had mixed feelings about this book, i liked it but i felt like there was something missing. The funny thing about this book was that when you are a fledgling, you get this little moon tattoo right smack in the middle of your forehead, I was picturing it all the vampires with a moon on there forehead, funny, but i still liked it. This is a vampire book that's not like all the other vampire books I've ever read. Marked has a young feel to it, i guess that's why i liked it so much.

I was watching some of P.C. and Kristin cast interviews and some of the characters are based off people they know. Zoey Redbird is just hilarious. Her mom hasn't been the same sense she married some REALLY religious guy, and lets just say they do not like that fact that Zoey is now a vampire. I think they wanted exorcist her or something. Zoey pretty much wants to poke his eyes out. So going to The House of Night she gets the best adviser, Who is the High Priestess. Zoey faces what any other teen faces, wanting to fit in, Bullies, cliques, finding friends, BOYFRiEnd PRoBLEMS.On top of all that She is not your average fledgling. She has an awesome power from The Goddess Nyx. House of Night Begins....

Oh and you should check out House of night website. It has like little trailer of there books and a yearbook pics of the main characters like Zoey and Eric(cute)

Book Review: Blue Bloods

When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, it carried on board the men and women who would shape America: Miles Standish; John Alden; Constance Hopkins. But some among the Pilgrims were not pure of heart; they were not escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires. The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated blue bloods of American society. The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. And they kept that secret for centuries. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out. Schuyler Van Alen is a sophomore at a prestigious private school. Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food and she is having flashbacks to ancient times. Then a girl from her school is found dead . . . drained of all her blood. Schuyler doesn't know what to think. Could those vampire legends really be true? Steeped in vampire lore and set against the heady backdrop of the rich, young, and powerful in the heart of New York City, Blue Bloods will be devoured by Melissa de la Cruzs legion fans.

Melissa De La Cruz did an amazing job, writing this book. These vampires are wealthy, go to a private schools, modeling, and parties. I loved it. Sky finds out she is part of the blue bloods, which is like some kind of High society club/charity thing made up of vampires. She veins start to show, and there bright blue(weird). They are like the descendants of the people from the mayflower. The Blood Blues go through a cycle, the vampires can age if they want but are reincarnated. They have to "take care of business" in order to rest in peace(Casper), then the cycle will stop.As the story progrosses something happens, someone has murdered a blood blue. Sky gets attacked, now she must discover who is after the Blue Bloods and how to stop them.

The characters were cool. It was like the vampire version of Gossip Girl, but duh! better than GG. There was alot of twists and secrets. That's what being in a secret society is about. Sky is my FAVORITE character. She is not you average girl well besides being a Blue blood. She was different and likable. Mia, you know I just HATE her. She has this "i'm the HBIC' attitude.

Overall awesome book. Masquerade is next, i have to read it because at the end it left me on BIG cliff hanger.

Book Review: Everything Sucks

Everything Sucks by Hannah Friedman: Book Cover Title: Everything Sucks
Author: Hannah Friedman
Pub. Date: August 2009
Publisher: Health Communications, Incorporated
Format: Paperback, 256pp
Age Range: Young Adult
ISBN-13: 9780757307751
ISBN: 0757307752

When everything sucks,
change everything . . .

And that's exactly what Hannah Friedman set out to do in an ambitious attempt to bust out of a life of obscurity and absurdity and into an alternate world of glamour, wealth, and popularity.
Being dubbed 'That Monkey Girl' by middle school bullies and being pulled out of sixth grade to live on a tour bus with her agoraphobic mother, her smelly little brother, and her father's hippie band mates convinces Hannah that she is destined for a life of freakdom.
But when she enters one of the country's most prestigious boarding schools on scholarship, Hannah transforms herself into everything she is not: cool. By senior year, she has a perfect millionaire boyfriend, a perfect GPA, a perfect designer wardrobe, and is part of the most popular clique in school, but somehow everything begins to suck far worse than when she first started. Her newfound costly drug habit, eating disorder, identity crisis, and Queen-Bee attitude lead to the unraveling of Hannah's very unusual life.
Putting her life back together will take more than a few clicks of her heels, or the perfect fit of a glass slipper, in this not-so-fairy tale of going from rock bottom to head of the class and back again.

My Thoughts:

Yeah Hannah is crazy(in a good way),just hilarious. I loved how she told her story. There was never a dull moment. She comes off as very relatable. You know somethings just SUCK! like homework lol. and BS' ing teachers.

I liked Hannah. She
puts her whole life out there and didn't hold back. She tells you like it is, or like it was, good or bad. That's why i really enjoy this book. She does tackle serious points like her drug use and eating disorder, she puts it all out there.

This is the first memoir i have read, i exactly LOVE it. The writing flowed, great personality, it was almost like it wasn't a  memoir. I think everybody should read this book at least once. You won't regret it! When everything sucks, change everything....

Sisters Red Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
 June 2010 by Little, Brown

Scarlett never believed in the Fenris—werewolves drawn to the delectable charms of young girls. That all changed when in one swift attack, a Fenris murdered her grandmother and left Scarlett half-blind and horrifically scarred. Only her younger sister, Rosie, escaped unharmed as Scarlett shielded her from the Fenris’s jaws.
Now eighteen, Scarlett’s life’s mission is to destroy the Fenris and save other girls from her fate—a mission she’s grown to love, despite herself. Armed with red cloaks and hatchets, Scarlett, Rosie, and a young woodsman, Silas, move to the city in search of answers—and vengeance. If they can find a Potential Fenris, tainted by the pack but not yet consumed by it, they can unlock the mystery that transforms them- but better yet, use him as bait.
But unlike Scarlett, Rosie doesn't feel the thrill of the hunt in her blood. Longing for a life away from heavy responsibility and something sweeter than steel determination, Rosie finds herself drawn to Silas. More and more often, they find themselves abandoning the search for the Potential, stealing kisses, sharing secrets.
When Scarlett discovers the romance blossoming in her midst, she abandons her sister to the woodsman, certain that her own heart has no room for love, not when it's filled with her mission, her purpose. Still, the bond between Scarlett and Rosie is too deep to truly sever, and when Scarlett discovers a way to bring her sister back to her side for good- even if it means destroying Rosie’s happiness—she is forced to make a decision that will change the course of both their lives.
A modernization of Little Red Riding Hood, SISTERS RED is told in alternating viewpoints of Scarlett and Rosie as the sisters struggle to find the Potential, destroy the Fenris, and unwind their own tangle of romantic complexities and the deeply rooted bond between them. SISTERS RED is approximately 80k words in length, aimed at a mid to upper teenage audience.

My Thoughts: hmmmm interesting, can't wait! love the cover again :D

ISBN-13: 9780525421559
ISBN: 0525421556
Age Range: Young Adult

An arresting story about starting over after a friend’s suicide, from a breakthrough new voice in YA fiction.
dear caitlin, there are so many things that i want so badly to tell you but i just can’t.
Devastating, hopeful, hopeless, playful . . . in words and illustrations, Ingrid left behind a painful farewell in her journal for Caitlin. Now Caitlin is left alone, by loss and by choice, struggling to find renewed hope in the wake of her best friend’s suicide. With the help of family and newfound friends, Caitlin will encounter first love, broaden her horizons, and start to realize that true friendship didn’t die with Ingrid. And the journal which once seemed only to chronicle Ingrid’s descent into depression, becomes the tool by which Caitlin once again reaches out to all those who loved Ingrid—and Caitlin herself.

My Thoughts:
Hold Still it another one of those powerful novel about loss, love, and hope for a fresh start after her friend's suicide.Iwas super excited when i got Hold Still.I know it's probably really hard to express feelings about suicide, but LaCour did an awesome job. I was  impressed with how she portrayed Caitlin's grief, pain, regret and all the other feelings that someone feels when someone they know commits suicide. I know this girl, it still shocks me today, I sat by her in my math class, but we never talked. Show shot herself. I don't really know why. But i was pretty much freaked out about death. She's not going to be in the hallways talking to her friends or sitting in the boring Geometry class.

Any ways I really liked how LaCour put all of these emotions into Caitlin's journey to heal/mourn and find herself a in new place in life. I don't know what i would do without my BFF. Her journey was so real.Caitlin is real, to me.....I would do the same thing if I was her. From Caitlin isolating herself, to trying to find someone to comfort her, to someone to befriend, to expressing herself through art.
Though some pieces of the story were kind of slow the plot keeps you interested. It had pictures in it too, I liked that about the book. It also had some diary entries from Ingrid.

Overall  I found myself glued to this book from start to finish It was gripping, personal, and at times excruciatingly emotional. This book is all about taking responsibility for your life even as it falls apart around you, learning to love yourself for who you are, learning how to channel your grief productively (versus destructively), and realizing that despite it all, life continues to flow around you and there is still good in the world.

Author Interview: Amy Reed

BeautifulToday I'm super excited to be interviewing author Amy Reed about her upcoming novel, Beautiful. Which is Now Available!

What inspired Beautiful?
A lot of it was inspired by my experience starting a new school in seventh grade.  I remember feeling so lonely and insecure being the new kid in a new school in a new town. Beautiful takes that to the extreme, exploring the consequences of what can happen when someone's willing to do anything to fit in.

Do you see yourself in any of the characters?
Luckily, I don't see much of myself in Alex .  But yes, I very much identify with Cassie. I felt just as lost at her age, just as confused and scared. I remember being faced with difficult decisions I knew I was not ready to make, of having a hard time distinguishing between what I believed and what other people wanted me to do.

How did you feel when Beautiful turned into book form?? Was you like YES YES! i did it, then do a little happy dance or was you in total shock. i know it had to be emotional from the beginning to finishing that last page.

Writing it was extremely emotional, but in some ways I had been preparing for it for years so I was very focused and determined to see it through to the end. When my agent called me and told me Simon Pulse loved it and wanted to publish it, I think I screamed. It was a dream come true.  It still doesn't quite seem real, even after holding the actual book in my hands. It's amazing to put so much of your heart into something, then see it recognized and released to the world.  But I'm a little nervous about how much people are going to read into it.  I'm open about it being based on my experiences, but it is still very much a work of fiction.  I've already had to remind my mom a million times not to refer to Cassie as "you."

Was there anything you found particularly challenging when you wrote Beautiful?
I was really torn about how much Cassie and Sarah needed to suffer, and how much detail to include.  It's important to me that all sensitive subject matter serve an important narrative purpose.  I don't want to write gratuitous sex, drugs, or violence that's only meant to shock the reader.  But the unfortunate truth is, the things that happen in Beautiful do happen in real life.  As an adult, I think it's irresponsible to hide the truth from teenagers, even if it's something we wish they didn't have to know.  If we expect teens to make the right decisions, we have to be upfront about what some of those decisions might be.  I hope that by reading Beautiful, readers will have their eyes opened and ultimately feel empowered to make healthy decisions and ask for help when they need it.

What who/what has influenced you most in life?
There are so many answers to that question.  But since we're on the topic, I think the time period portrayed in Beautiful was one of the most influential of my life.  I learned the hard way what can happen when you sacrifice your own well-being and self-respect in order to fit in. The pain that resulted taught me to put myself first and to listen to that little voice inside that always knows what the right choice is.  It also helped me realize that being true to myself is my highest priority.

When teens read your novel what do you want them to take with them/learn after reading it?
I want teens to realize how important their choices are.  Like I said before, I hope teens feel empowered to make the right decisions for themselves, even if it means going against what they think is popular.  I also hope that they can feel safe to ask for help if they're in a dangerous situation.  Even if you think it's too late, even if you're afraid of getting in trouble, there is always help out there.  You do not have to do it alone.

Thanks Amy for the awesome interview! High School is tough with all the peer pressure and everything. I can totally relate.

Hush, Hush Title: Hush Hush

Pub. Date: October 13 2009

Age Range: Young Adult
ISBN-13: 9781416989417

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

MY THOUGHTS:

SNAPS for Becca! When i first heard about the book I just knew i would LOVE it. It was such an amazing debut novel. AMAZING! I mean look at the cover,Gorgeous. If the summary doesn't hook you than i just don't know, i'll make you read it hehe. I found myself defending Hush Hush because my friend was like "let me see what your reading" so i let her see it.Then she said " Its another version of Twilight" and i said" NAH AH!!, Hush Hush is way better!"(i do like Twilight through)

The mystery, danger, and suspense in the story keeps you on your toes. Its fasted pace and it just flowed. One minute your like i know whats going on then the next your like i was totally wrong. My eyes were like glued to the pages. I couldn't read nothing else. I found myself trying not to finish it because i didn't want the story to end. Then it was over. I want the sequel BADLY!

The characters made Hush, Hush awesome. Nora is the best heroine ever; she’s like teenage girls everywhere, you can differently relate to her.Her BFF Vee, is hilarious. She is so funny and adventurous. She is such a great compliment to Nora.Patch hmmmm. He’s HOT, he has the mysterious thing going on and an arrogant personality, He looks good doing it too. Nora knew what she had on her hands.(i want to know the story on what inspired Patch.Huh Becca? hehe)

As you guys know the ending has changed, i have no problem rereading Hush Hush because it was AWESOME! i recommend EVERYONE should read it.

Book review: Defenders of the Scroll

Defenders of the ScrollTitle: Defenders of the Scroll
Author: Shiraz
Pub. Date: 2008
ISBN 9780981013503
Age Range: Young Adult/10+

A teenage boy.
A dark wizard.
A mystic scroll.
And the fate of a world hangs in the balance...

When Alex "the Axeman" Logan is pulled from his world to help a young princess, named Dara, save her kingdom from the Shadow Lord, he thinks there has been a mistake. He's a teen guitar player close to failing 11th grade, not some defender of the realm. All he has are some school books, his wits, and his love of fantasy movies.
Overnight his life is history. Alex must confront the Shadow Lord and his minions when he is thrust into a land that has changed from a magical paradise to a barren, hopeless, helpless realm invaded by a dark army. But Alex is not alone. He has the help of Dara, a magic scroll, and a band of unlikely companions drawn from his own history books: a hardened Roman Legionnaire, a swift Japanese Samurai, a fearless African Warrior, a fiery Amazon Archer, and a spirited Shaolin Monk.
Can Alex become more than he believes and lead his small band of Defenders to the Hall of Shadows, the birthplace of the Shadow Lord? The fate of the realm and everyone in it rests on him.

MY THOUGHTS:

Have you ever had of that phrase " Never Judge a Book by It's cover" yeah well i'm the number one offender of that. When I first received Defenders of the Scroll for review I was kind of hesitant to read it but the summary caught my eye plus i haven't read Fantasy in a WHILE. Defenders of the Scroll picked right up It was adventurous from the first page. I liked the journey Shiraz took me on throughout the book.

The Characters were likable and entertaining. There was never a dull moment, there was a lot of action, adventure, and fantasy. It reminded me of a video game. I remember when i was so obsessed with them, I'd was glue to the book. What was so awesome about Defenders of the Scroll was that the pages where like on a scroll which was really cool. Books are starting to have like pictures in them and now AWESOME pages. High five on that one Shiraz!

It ended with a cliffhanger so I'm looking forward to a sequel. If you want fantasy and adventure then you should pick this one up. My brother is reading it now.

2010 by Egmont USA
